This policy explains what personal information FindMyNextBarber collects, why, who sees it, how long we keep it, how to delete it and what your rights are.
Who we are
FindMyNextBarber is run by FINDMYNEXTSTAY LTD, a company registered in England and Wales, company number 15128680, registered office 321-323 Office 8537, High Road, Romford, England, RM6 6AX. FINDMYNEXTSTAY LTD is the data controller for the information described here. Contact: support@findmynextbarber.com.
Barber shops and hair salons listed on FindMyNextBarber are independent businesses. When you visit, book, pay or apply for a job at a shop, that shop also uses your details to serve you and is responsible for its own use of them.
What we collect
- Your account: your name, email address, mobile number and a securely hashed password, and your choices (email settings, reminders, whether shops may see your number).
- Visits: the queue tickets and bookings you make, the services, the barber and the time, and whether the visit happened.
- Payments: if you pay online, the amount, tip, our commission, refunds and the payment’s reference at Stripe, and a Stripe customer reference so your saved cards can be offered next time. Your card number is typed only on Stripe’s own page; we never see or store it. We show the card brand, the last 4 digits and the expiry date of saved cards by asking Stripe each time.
- Products: the products you reserve at a shop to collect there, and whether you collected them.
- Job applications: if you apply for a job a shop advertises, your name, contact details and the message you send. We do not accept CV uploads.
- Haircut history: the style and notes saved after a visit, and photos you or the shop add. Photos are re-saved by our server, which removes hidden details such as the place where the photo was taken.
- Family members: if you add family members (for example a child), their first name and their haircut history. Please only add people you look after.
- What you share: reviews, posts, photos, comments and likes on the Public page.
- Shop owners and staff: the shop’s name, logo, address, map position, opening times, services, prices, products, job vacancies, team names and phone number, the staff member’s name and email if they are given a login, the shop’s plan and subscription, and the reference of the shop’s Stripe account. The bank details and identity documents a shop gives to receive payouts are collected by Stripe on its own pages; we never see them.
- Affiliates: your application, your affiliate code, the shops that joined with it, the shares you earn and their payment status, and the reference of your Stripe account if you set up payouts. Your bank details are given to Stripe, not to us.
- Location: if you press “Use my location”, your phone or computer tells the page where you are so it can show distances. That position is used in your browser and is not saved. A town or postcode you type is sent to our server to find it on the map.
- Emails we send you (a copy of each is kept so you and we can see what was sent), and technical information such as your IP address, used to keep the service secure and to limit repeated log-in and sign-up attempts.
Why we use it
- To run the service you asked for: queues, bookings, payments and refunds, product reservations, job applications, haircut history, reviews, the Public page, shop dashboards, subscriptions and affiliate accounts. Legal basis: our contract with you.
- To send the emails the service needs (your turn, booking changes, receipts, refunds, password links) and the optional ones you can switch off (reminders to book your next haircut). Legal basis: contract, and our legitimate interests for optional reminders, which you can stop at any time.
- To keep accounting and tax records of payments. Legal basis: our legal obligations.
- To keep the service safe, prevent fraud, stop spam and misuse, and check reviews and posts. Legal basis: our legitimate interests.
We do not sell your information and we do not use it for advertising.
Who can see it
- The shop you queue at, book with, buy from or apply to sees your name, your ticket, booking, products or application, whether you paid online, the services, your recent haircut notes and photos so they can repeat your style, and the haircuts they gave you. Your mobile number is never public. A shop sees it only while you have a ticket or a booking with them, and only if you switched on “Share my number with shops I book or queue at”.
- Everyone can see what you choose to share on the Public page (your first name and the first letter of your surname, the photo, your opinion, the shop and the style) and your reviews. The TV screen in a shop shows only ticket numbers, never names or phone numbers.
- Stripe (Stripe Payments Europe Ltd and its group companies) processes all card payments, refunds, subscriptions and payouts. Stripe receives the payment details you type on its page and the details needed to process the payment, and for shops and affiliates the details needed to verify them and pay them out. Stripe uses this information under its own privacy policy: stripe.com/privacy.
- Our other service providers: WordPress.com (Automattic), which hosts the website and sends its emails, and may process data outside the UK under appropriate safeguards; OpenStreetMap (Nominatim), which receives shop addresses and the places you search for so we can find them on the map; Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when the page loads its lettering.
- Authorities, only if the law requires it.
How we protect it
All connections use HTTPS. Passwords are stored only as a salted hash. Card and bank details never reach our website: they are typed only on Stripe’s pages. The secret key that connects our website to Stripe is stored encrypted. Each person can only reach their own information, and each shop only what this policy describes. We limit repeated log-in and sign-up attempts, and every change must come from your signed-in session on this website. Payment information is only accepted from Stripe in signed messages that we check. Photos are not listed publicly and their hidden location details are removed.
How long we keep it
- Your account, haircut history, family members, reviews and posts: until you delete them or your account.
- Payment, refund, subscription and affiliate payment records: as long as UK accounting and tax law requires (normally 6 years), even after an account is deleted, without your name where possible.
- Job applications: deleted 6 months after they are sent.
- Copies of emails sent: 180 days. Finished or cancelled queue tickets: about 13 months, so shops can see their history and loyalty cards work.
- Backups and security logs kept by our host may hold copies for a short time before they are overwritten.
How to delete your data
Log in, open My profile and choose Delete my account. This removes your account, haircut history and photos, family members, reviews, posts, comments and likes, and the copies of emails about you. A shop’s own records of visits that happened, and payment records we must keep by law, are kept without your name, so the accounts still add up. Shop owners first choose Close my shop. You can also email support@findmynextbarber.com from the address on your account and we will delete your data within 30 days.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, object to how we use it, and withdraw consent at any time. Email support@findmynextbarber.com. If you are in the UK and unhappy with how we handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
Children
Accounts are for people aged 18 or over. A parent or carer can add a child as a family member and keep the child’s haircut history in their own account.
Cookies and storage on your device
We use cookies that keep you logged in and keep the service secure. The app also remembers a few choices on your device, such as the sound switch for “it is your turn” and an affiliate code from a link you opened. Stripe’s payment page uses its own cookies to process payments and prevent fraud. We do not use advertising cookies.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page when the way we use information changes, and tell you by email or in the app if the change matters. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
